Ruth Suffrin
Ruth Suffrin uses clay to
create semi-abstract forms animated by vibrant emotion. Sheworks,
through the discipline of geometric proportion and tension, to
balance primal and contemporary energies, expressing the grace
and passion of human lives. Her stylized elegance is complex
and utterly simple; strong and pure.
Ruth Suffrin is a native of Germany
and o graduate of the Kunstakademie, Stuttgart, where she majored
in sculpture and won a commission to create a life-size clay
figure with ceramic background for an important architectural
fountain. She studied painting at the Art Students League in
New York, and later executed a commission for seven large pieces
in oil and acrylic for a St. Louis corporate building.
Returning to the challenge of
sculpture in recent years, Ruth Suffrin is currently affiliated
with Agora Gallery in New York City and has exhibited in group
shows in the New York area and abroad. Her work is represented
in numerous private collections.
